Julie LaMancuso

Julie LaMancuso began her dance training at the age of 3 at the David DeMarie Dance Studio in Clarence, NY.  Julie began Assistant Teaching at the age of 12 and has had a passion for teaching dance ever since. During high School, Julie was the choreographer and treasurer of the Williamsville District Dance Ensemble. She not only grew up in a competitive studio setting, but she was a founding member of a pre-professional contemporary company, Infinity Dance Project. Julie has since choreographed for the company for 5 years. She went on to graduate from the University at Buffalo with a BA in dance. Her work has been featured in productions at UB such as Dancer's Workshop, Emerging Choreographers Showcase and Zodiaque Dance Ensemble.

While a student in the dance department, Julie's work Moonlight Sonata was chosen to represent UB at the American College Dance Festival at Penn State.  She also served as the Assistant to the Director of Zodiaque Dance Company, UB Dance's resident company. Julie was the recipient of the Amanda Occhino Scholarship, presented annually to one dance major for their commiment and dedication to the Department of Theatre & Dance. She has also set 3 different works for the dance department at Fredonia State University. Julie has been the guest choreographer for In Good Company Productions, staging and choreographing High School Musical and Once On This Island.

In 2011, Julie was named America's Young Choreographer of the Year at the American Dance Awards Nationals in Boston, MA. This past year, Julie's choreography won the prestigious "Critics Choice Award" in both the Mini and Teen categories at Onstage NY. This award is given to the routine that the judges deem to be the "best in show" of the entire competition. She currently adjuticates for the American Dance Awards across the US and Canada, and teaches master classes and sets choreography all over the Buffalo and Rochester area.

Julie has been a valued member of the MADS faculty for the past 4 years. We are thrilled that she shares her knowledge and expertise with our competition dancers, and we know you will love working with her!
